Purpose of Position:
The purpose of this position is to train to lead a team of associates and operate and maintain production equipment in a manner that reduces downtime and waste, meets or exceeds company goals and produces product that meets company and customer quality and packaging specifications in a safe manner.ย  Responsible for all aspects of machine operation and changeover activities to achieve and maintain world class quality.

Position Responsibilities and Job Functions:
  • Role model and demonstrate the Companyโ€™s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion and the safety of others.
  • Follow established programs, policies, and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements.
  • Support the development, implementation, maintenance and ongoing improvement of the SQF Systems.
  • Accountable to the Kroger Manufacturing Food Safety and Quality Principles.
  • Associate is required to immediately report any food safety concerns to a member of the site leadership team.ย  Associate is expected to stop production when they deem food safety is at risk.ย  The associate must then notify a member of the site leadership team.
  • Responsible for monitoring the cleanliness of food contact surfaces through visual inspection of the equipment and ATP swab results via the Post Clean inspection form.ย  This includes taking and documenting corrective action/corrections when deviations occur.
  • Responsible for the monitoring of metal detector/x-ray when equipment is in operation.ย  This includes required equipment checks in addition to taking and documenting corrective action/corrections when deviations occur.
  • Responsible for the monitoring of the UPC scanners when equipment is in operation or label checks when vision technology is not in use.ย  This includes required equipment checks in addition to taking and documenting corrective action/corrections when deviations occur.
  • Follow established safety programs, policies, and practices to maintain an accident-free workplace.
  • Actively participate in the behavioral safety process, BAPPยฎ, by completing observations as scheduled to identify at-risk condition and behaviors to maintain an accident-free workplace.
  • Train and be checked off on operating two (2) production lines within two (2) years which includes an evaluation from the trainer, departmental resource leader and training leader.ย  The lines learned will be determined by the operations resource leaders.ย  Trainee may need to change shifts for training based on trainer availability.ย  Operations and Training Leaders to determine trainer and training schedule.
  • Utilize PRISM to run schedules, check on materials, make PRโ€™s and perform resource adjustments (RA) at the end of each production run to assist with inventory control.
  • Utilize Infinity to perform and record weight checks as well as use the data to make adjustments to reduce weight variances on finished products.
  • Perform other quality checks (oxygen, leaker, etc.) as required by assigned work area.
  • Perform line disassembly and reassembly before and after sanitation activities including wash outs and vacuum outs as well as changeovers.ย  This also requires completion of any necessary paperwork.
  • Utilize KDT to enter and record line downtime data.ย  Also, enter comments into KDT when something out of the ordinary occurs with downtime.
  • Assist with leading the associates assigned to the line during line operations.
  • Perform changeover activities, minor troubleshooting activities and minor repairs.ย  Communicate with line associates during these activities.
  • Assist in the coordination of break and lunch relief for associates assigned to the line.
  • Assist with the facilitation of shift-to-shift communication meeting at line on a daily basis.
  • Ensure line and area is maintained at a high level of cleanliness and 5S organization.
  • Write work requests and follow-up to ensure timely equipment repairs.
  • Assist production machine operators as needed during changeovers, minor troubleshooting activities and minor repairs.
  • Utilize hand tools and machine shop tools when necessary and only if qualified.
  • Attend any necessary training classes based on specific job needs.ย  This training will be determined by skills testing, class availability, supervisor recommendation and associate development plan.
  • If necessary, operate powered industrial equipment on lines.ย  You must be qualified and licensed to operate this equipment.
  • Complete all required paperwork and documentation accurately and legibly.
  • Provide vacation relief for other production machine operators on lines for which qualification has been achieved and documentation available.
  • Achieve minimum or higher score on LOT skills tests within two years of trainee job acceptance date.
  • Fill Line Operator Technician openings as they become available, no matter what shift the opening is on. ย 
  • Support a Customer 1st culture by thinking and acting with the customer in mind to positively impact quality, service and prices of our manufactured products.
  • Support the manufacturing sustainability program to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle to strengthen our commitment to โ€œDoing our Partโ€ that will enable our Customer to โ€œDo their Partโ€.

Position Relationship:
The trainee position requires day-to-day contact with resource leader, trainer, line associates, lead person(s) and lab technicians to complete all assigned tasks on a daily basis.

Degree of Authority:
This position has the authority to make machine adjustments to assigned production line to ensure a safe quality product is produced.ย  This position also has the authority to assist the trainer in the direction of the line associates during product and machine changeovers to minimize the amount of total line downtime.

Requirements:
  • Knowledge โ€“ Requires the ability to understand general arithmetic; speak and write in a clear and understandable manner for internal/external relations; understand complex verbal or written instruction; knowledge ordinarily acquired through high school plus up to one (1) year of college, technical or equivalent experience.ย  Mechanical ability to operate and adjust equipment.
  • This position requires the ability to understand computer applications.ย  This position currently utilizes computer programs for inventory control, weight control and equipment downtime.ย  Position also uses Microsoftยฎ Office applications.
  • Mental โ€“ Requires normal attention with periods of high concentration intermittently.ย  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished with written, oral or diagram form (essential functions 1-35).
  • Physical โ€“ Requires walking/standing approximately 60% of the time and lifting up to 75 pounds approximately 50% of the time; involves frequent bending, squatting and kneeling; involves ascending/descending on mobile and stationary platforms and ladders approximately 25% of the time; regularly reaching to clean, move product, operate tools or equipment.
  • Environmental โ€“ Requires capability of performing essential job functions within and established manufacturing environment under normal lighting and climate tolerances (essential functions 1-35).ย
