Job description

Job Requirements

The Principal Building Systems Advisor at Stark Tech serves as the foremost technical expert for complex building systems, providing comprehensive guidance across HVAC, controls, energy systems, and building analytics to support customers, operations, and engineering teams. This role involves diagnosing intricate building performance issues, conducting assessments, and translating data into actionable recommendations that enhance system reliability, efficiency, and occupant comfort. The advisor collaborates with cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions, validates operational data and digital insights, and supports the deployment of the Optelligent platform. Additionally, the position is responsible for mentoring technical staff, capturing institutional knowledge, establishing best practices, and serving as the highest level of technical escalation. The advisor also evaluates emerging technologies to advance Stark Tech's service offerings and ensure the successful execution of complex projects and customer initiatives.


Work Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Facilities Management, Construction Management, Building Systems Technology, or related technical discipline required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of highly specialized experience in building systems, HVAC, controls, building automation, commissioning, energy management, facilities operations, or related technical disciplines required.
  • Significant technical, industry, or thought leadership experience serving as a recognized subject matter expert in building systems performance, operational optimization, controls, energy systems, or intelligent building technologies required.
  • Experience providing technical consultation and advisory services to customers, engineers, technicians, operational leaders, and executive stakeholders required.
  • Professional certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Certified Building Commissioning Professional (CBCP), Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP), LEED Accreditation, Niagara Certification, Tridium Certification, or equivalent industry-recognized credentials preferred.
  • Building Automation Systems (BAS/BMS). Building Analytics and Fault Detection & Diagnostics (FDD) Platforms. Energy Monitoring and Building Performance Systems Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Expert-level skills in building systems diagnostics and optimization, building automation and controls systems, and technical advisory and solution development, along with advanced proficiency in mechanical and electrical building infrastructure, building systems integration and analytics, and energy systems and building performance optimization.
