Land Survey - Survey Technician 


BL Companies is growing and looking for a Survey Technician to join our land surveying team. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals starting their career in surveying to gain hands-on experience with industry-standard tools and techniques while working on meaningful projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of survey maps and plans from field-collected data
  • Support field crews by processing field notes and sketches
  • Perform basic data entry and editing using AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation
  • Help interpret deed descriptions and plot property boundaries under supervision
  • Learn to create Digital Terrain Models (DTMs) and generate contours
  • Follow company CAD standards and assist with maintaining drawing consistency
  • Work collaboratively with survey and engineering staff in a team environment

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field preferred; relevant coursework or field experience may be considered
  • 0-4 years of experience in land survey
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or Civil 3D a plus
  • Basic understanding of land surveying concepts and terminology
  • Willingness to learn new software and tools, including MicroStation and Leica Infinity
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds
