The JUNIOR SURVEY PARTY CHIEF position provides front-line supervisory guidance to survey field crews while performing preliminary, construction, boundary and control surveys. Provides effective day-to-day supervision and training of assigned survey crew staff Reads and interprets plans and specifications. Operates and maintains a variety of survey equipment in a safe and efficient manner.

Determines equipment, materials and personnel needed for specific jobs. Identifies and implements priorities, effective courses of action in order to complete work assignments by established deadlines. Maintains files of maps, documents, and other records.

Performs extensive surveying calculations for grades, angles and distances. Makes legible survey notes and drawings. Efficiently operates survey instruments, including GPS, robotics, electronic total stations and data collectors.

Enters survey data in an organized and coherent manner into a data collector. Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor. Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: High school diploma or GED required

Equivalent combination of 4 years of education and relevant, progressive technical surveying experience preferred. Land Surveyor-in-Training preferred. Knowledge of surveying principles and practices and engineering design and construction practices.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Valid Driver's License - Must be insurable by fleet insurer; driving history will be reviewed by agent and underwriter The ability to work a regular schedule of 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM Monday through Thursday and 7:30 AM to 12:00 PM Friday Must be able to pass a background check as required by military, industrial, port, and other client sites. Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices Physical Requirements: Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.

Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards. Regularly work on repetitive tasks. Regularly use hands and fingers to handle, control, or feel objects.

Regularly hold the arm and hand in one position or hold the hand steady while moving the arm. Regularly use headphones and earpiece. Regularly see details of objects that are less than a few feet away.

Regularly speak clearly so listeners can understand. Regularly understand the speech of another person. Must be able to withstand regular exposure to outdoor worksite weather conditions that may be wet and/or humid environments, with extreme cold and/or heat; sites may be moderate to moderately loud Ability to work in an environment that may contain venomous snakes and insects such as ticks, red bugs, wasps, bees, hornets, yellow jackets, etc.

Must be able to perform tasks that require long-term standing and/or repetitive motions Frequently bend to file and maintain files.
