Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Security Officer, you will monitor buildings and grounds on the property to ensure the safety and security of employees, patients, and other visitors.
Every day you will monitor the property by walking and driving around the premises. Your security detail could include guarding facility and unit access points, monitoring surveillance cameras, testing new security technology, and protecting all employees/visitors against acts of violence should they arise.
To be successful in this role, youโ€™ll need the ability to remain calm and take action based on the situation, known facts, and understand the position limitations. You are also expected to respond to emergency codes in a timely manner. Previous experience in security/patrol in a healthcare setting is preferred.

  • Greets, directs and communicates with patients and visitors as they enter Mercy Medical Center for services.
  • Interacts with all Mercy departments to assist patients/customers.
  • Provides information to staff, visitors, and patients.
  • Responds to emergency situations related to combative or violent people that are endangering themselves or others.
  • Evaluates situations and uses de-escalation skills to resolve situations.
Job Requirements

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Unarmed Professional within 30 Days
  • Oregon Driver's License
  • AHA BLS within 30 Days
  • First Aid within 30 Days

Preferred

  • College level coursework in professionally related fields.
  • One year of experience in law enforcement or as a security officer.
  • Healthcare security experience.
