What are the main responsibilities of a surrogacy case manager?

A Surrogacy Case Manager oversees the entire surrogacy journey, serving as the primary point of contact for intended parents and surrogate candidates. Responsibilities typically include coordinating medical appointments, assisting with legal and documentation processes, facilitating communication between all involved parties, and providing ongoing support throughout pregnancy. You may also manage timelines, address any challenges that arise, and ensure everyone understands their rights and responsibilities. Working closely with fertility clinics, legal teams, and counseling professionals, Case Managers play a critical role in creating a positive and seamless surrogacy experience.

What is surrogacy?

A surrogacy job involves carrying and delivering a baby for intended parents who are unable to conceive or carry a child themselves. A surrogate agrees to undergo pregnancy through either traditional surrogacy (using her own egg) or gestational surrogacy (using the intended parents' or donor's egg and sperm). Surrogates are typically compensated for their time, medical expenses, and related costs. The process involves medical screenings, legal agreements, and emotional commitment to ensure a smooth journey for all parties involved.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed for surrogacy?

To work in the surrogacy field, such as a Surrogacy Case Manager or Coordinator, you need a background in healthcare, social work, or counseling, combined with deep knowledge of reproductive technologies and legal considerations. Familiarity with case management software, patient records systems, and relevant certification in reproductive health or counseling is often required. Exceptional interpersonal skills, sensitivity, organizational abilities, and discretion are key to supporting intended parents and surrogates through complex processes. These competencies ensure ethical, efficient, and compassionate guidance for all parties involved in surrogacy arrangements.

Job description

About the Role

Talarico for Texas is building a people-powered campaign rooted in grassroots support, integrity, and the belief that politics should work for everyday Texans. James Talarico's campaign for the U.S. Senate will focus heavily on coordinating closely with local leaders and community organizations across the state who are most connected to the issues that matter to Texans.

To support this work, we are seeking a full-time Political Surrogates Manager to lead the campaign's statewide ambassador and surrogate program. This role will serve as the bridge between the Political, Communications, and Creative teams, ensuring that trusted messengers—including elected officials, community leaders, faith leaders, labor leaders, advocates, and other validators—are equipped with the messaging, resources, and opportunities they need to effectively amplify the campaign.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow the campaign's statewide surrogate and ambassador program
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with elected officials, endorsers, validators, and community leaders serving as campaign surrogates
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Political, Communications, and Creative teams to ensure surrogate messaging is timely, accurate, and strategically aligned
  • Develop and distribute regular newsletters, talking points, message guidance, digital toolkits, and campaign updates for surrogates and validators
  • Coordinate rapid-response communications to surrogates during major campaign moments, policy announcements, debates, earned media opportunities, and breaking news
  • Identify opportunities for surrogates to amplify campaign messaging through earned media, social media, public events, letters, op-eds, videos, and community engagement
  • Work with the Press team to identify and prepare surrogate media opportunities and interviews
  • Partner with the Creative team to amplify social media assets and other content tailored for surrogate distribution
  • Maintain comprehensive databases of surrogates, endorsers, validators, and ambassadors, tracking engagement and communication history
  • Coordinate surrogate briefings, virtual meetings, trainings, and appreciation events

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • 3–5 years of campaign, communications, political, coalition, or public affairs experience
  • Excellent writing skills with experience drafting newsletters, talking points, messaging documents, or stakeholder communications
  • Strong understanding of political messaging and the ability to translate campaign strategy into accessible communications
  • Exceptional project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple teams and deadlines simultaneously;
  • Experience working with elected officials, community leaders, or high-profile stakeholders preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a customer-service mindset when supporting campaign surrogates and validators
  • Familiarity with email marketing platforms, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and political tools (e.g., NGP, VAN) preferred
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as campaign needs require
  • Access to reliable transportation

Benefits

Reports to: Political & Coalitions Director

Location: Austin, Texas (Statewide Travel Required)

Salary: $7,000 per month

Benefits: Health care, paid time off, sick leave
