Job Title: Surgical Technologist I
Job Category: Clinical - Allied
Location: Chapel Hill, North Carolina
Schedule: Full-Time | 40 hours/week | 8-hour shifts | 5 days/week
Contract Dates: March 30, 2026 - June 27, 2026
Job Summary
The Surgical Technologist I performs technical duties in the operating room, ensuring proper sterile technique, equipment handling, and support for surgical procedures. This role works closely with the surgical team to maintain a safe and efficient environment.
Responsibilities
  • Prepare, maintain, and sterilize surgical instruments and supplies
  • Ensure aseptic technique and address contamination issues
  • Perform surgical counts and report discrepancies
  • Assist with specimen handling and medication labeling
  • Set up instruments, supplies, and drapes for procedures
  • Assist surgeons during procedures with knowledge of anatomy and case needs
  • Operate and troubleshoot OR equipment
  • Restock rooms and report defective instruments or supplies
  • Support RNs during intraoperative care
  • Respond to surgical emergencies
  • Mentor Surgical Technician Trainees as needed
Qualifications
  • 0-3 years of experience
  • Level I Trauma experience required (minimum 1 year)
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology or Nursing Program, Military Surgical Technology Program, or 3+ years of surgicaltech experience
  • Successful completion of Surgical Technologist competencies
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider certification
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
