Surgical Scheduler - Chicago

Position Highlights:

  • Position: Surgical Scheduler I
  • Location: Chicago , IL
  • Full Time/Part Time: Full Time
  • Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm.
  • Required Travel: Travel to other sites based upon department need

What you will do:

  • Surgical Scheduling.
  • Accurately creates and schedules surgical cases in Epic Optime across Endeavor.
  • Identifies scheduling options/opportunities
  • Resolves/anticipates conflicts.
  • Communication between OR Staff and Surgeon offices to provide appropriately scheduled cases in a timely manner.
  • Charge Capture for Surgical and Anesthesia procedures.
  • Facilitates the prevention of billing errors by reviewing legal documentation of log entries, physician surgical notes, and anesthesia technical charges to reconcile billable services.
  • Resolves and completes end of day processes, ensure surgical encounter charges have been cleared in the "Unposted logs" report and released to hospital billing dept.
  • Creates "new purchase item requests" within Workday as needed for new items used.
  • Contacts and follow up with OR Staff to fix log discrepancies.
  • Contact and follow up with supply vendors to receive missing "Bill Only/Vendor Form/Charge Sheets" as needed.
  • Other Duties as Assigned: Miscellaneous duties as assigned by Supervisor/manager (i.e. Request Book, Training, Workqueues, Reports, etc.)

What you will need:

  • Associates Degree Preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Previous experience in surgical scheduling or billing strongly preferred.
  • Epic Optime or Cadence experience preferred.
