Job description

JOB SUMMARY:


Are you a team player? Westfall Surgery Center is seeking a Surgical Scrub Technologist/LPN Scrub nurse to assist the Registered Professional Nurse in planning for and carrying out the activities in elective surgical procedure and emergency procedures as the situation arises. The Surgical Tech/LPN Scrub is an integral part of the surgical team and the patients’ surgical experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

He/she will provide a positive and professional atmosphere so as to enhance the surgical experience and assure the smooth functioning of ASC.

1. Scrub on all types of surgical procedures assigned.

2. Assist in setting up operating room for surgical procedures, including initial wiping down of surfaces.

3. Handle sterile linen, instruments, supplies, and maintain aseptic technique at all times.

4. Assist in keeping accurate sponge and needle counts and proper handling of specimens.

5. Clean and restock operating rooms after operative procedure.

6. Assemble special trays, instruments, etc. and wrap for processing.

7. Complete special assignments as indicated and necessary for the smooth functioning of ASC.


8. Assume responsibility for personal growth and development by participating in continuing education programs/mandatory in-services and by initiating and giving an in-service as necessary.


9. Adhere to ASC Policies & Procedures.

10. Assist in various departments of the ASC under supervision as necessary.

11. Works late as assigned in advance.

12. Flexes schedule to fulfill needs of the ASC.

13. Uses good work safety habits (including PPE).

14. Performs other duties as necessary to ensure smooth running of ASC.

EDUCATION:

High school education, or equivalent.

Minimum of two year’s pertinent experience.

Surgical Technologist Certification or LPN license and registration.

CERTIFICATION PREFERRED:

Successful completion of A.S.T. certifications examination.

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Excellent physical and mental health.

Personality traits which enhance working within a team concept.
