Job description

JOB SUMMARY
Responsible to and under the supervision of the Director of Sterile Processing. Directs services and departments in providing patient care equipment and surgical instrumentation reprocessing functions including; collection, decontamination, assembly, sterilization, high-level disinfection and distribution Responsible for oversight of the surgical instrument inventory and supplies supporting departmental activities. Serves as subject matter expert and resource for product reprocessing needs. Develops and ensures compliance with departmental budget. Manages fixed departmental equipment and plant property. Works collaboratively with other departments and units to ensure efficient, safe and effective instrument and equipment availability. Models excellence in customer service, ensuring the highest standards for both internal and external constituent satisfaction.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree is required. Education and work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. Three years of experience in an acute sterile processing department is required. Minimum of one year of experience in preparing for Joint Commission, local, state and/or federal surveys/audits. Two years of supervisory experience, management education preferred. Current Sterile Processing Technician certification required.
