American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg / Telemetry for a travel nursing job in Shelby, North Carolina.

Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift position requiring 18 months of Med/Tele experience and a NC or compact RN license.

Details
  • Work on a 32-bed Surgical Med/Surg Tele unit within a 241-bed Level 3 Trauma teaching-affiliated hospital
  • Average daily census of 28 patients
  • Common diagnoses include total joint replacements, colon resection, gallbladder and appendectomy procedures, amputations, medical overflow, hip fractures, SBO, and NG tube management
  • RN patient ratios are 1:4-6 on days and 1:5-6 on nights, with surge ratios up to 1:7-8
  • 12-hour night shift schedule (1900-0700), 36 hours per week
  • Schedule cycle every 6 weeks with every other weekend rotation
  • Possibility of low census call-back, up to 3a for nights and 3p for days
  • Uses Epic EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Philips monitors
  • Floating required within Region 3 (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH) as needed and within scope of practice
Requirements
  • Active NC or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
  • Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required
  • Skilled in cardiac rhythm interpretation, non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), wound care, drain/tube management, PIV starts, and central line management
  • Epic EMR experience preferred
  • Last 4 digits of SSN and full DOB required for consideration
  • Minimum of 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN
Additional Information
  • Provide direct nursing care for a surgical Med/Surg Tele patient population, including cardiac monitoring and post-surgical management
  • Support team includes CNAs, unit receptionist/HUC, charge nurse, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, and 24/7 RT, hospitalist, and intensivist coverage
  • Telemetry monitoring and tech support available on the unit
  • Orientation includes New Employee Orientation (NEO) plus 2 days of departmental orientation
  • Travelers are expected to work 75% of holidays
  • Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; unmet contracted hours must be added to the end of the assignment
  • Navy scrub color required
  • Free parking available onsite
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
  • Previous employees must be separated from any AHSE facility for at least 1 year after working a permanent position
