Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform underwriting tasks as determined by the supervising underwriter, including new/renewal business screening, renewal and endorsement underwriting, and referring exceptions to the supervising underwriter.
  • Refer business beyond delegated authority to supervising underwriter.
  • Manage diaries and follow-ups for information on accounts.
  • Provide assistance to Loss Control and audit reports.
  • Rate new and renewal applications as required.
  • Perform other underwriting and agent and customer management duties as requested.
  • Ability to interact with colleagues, agents, and customers in a professional manner.

Job Requirements:

  • High School degree or equivalent required - some college education, a plus.
  • One year insurance company underwriting or comparable insurance experience preferred.
  • Pursuit of CPCU, CIC or other applicable designations preferred but not required.
  • Proficient in MS Office Software applications.
  • Ability to Communicate effectively with internal and external contacts.
  • Good organizational and time management skills required.
  • Detail oriented and able to handle multiple tasks.
  • Insurance Agent license or certification strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of commercial surety experience preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of Microsoft Excel experience preferred.
