Working collaboratively with students, employees, community organizations, and internal stakeholders, the Advisor supports survivor-centered and trauma-informed responses to disclosures, develops educational resources and awareness campaigns, and advances NorQuest's commitment to Justice, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion, Anti-Racism, and Decolonial Indigenization. This role serves as a key resource in supporting healthy learning and working environments across the College.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Develop, deliver, and evaluate gender-based violence and sexual violence training opportunities for the College community.
  • Develop, implement, and assess awareness campaigns focused on consent culture, gender-based violence, harassment, and responding to disclosures.
  • Ensure student participation and student voice are incorporated into awareness initiatives and educational campaigns.
  • Receive disclosures of gender-based and sexual violence using trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, and decolonized practices.
  • Provide individuals with information, options, and support following disclosures and facilitate access to internal and external supports.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with college departments, community organizations, and external partners to support awareness, education, referral pathways, and coordinated responses.
  • Maintain subject matter expertise through professional development, monitoring legislative changes, and staying informed on emerging trends and best practices in gender-based and sexual violence prevention and response.
  • Support the development and implementation of policies, procedures, learning resources, and initiatives that strengthen violence prevention and support services.
  • Collect, analyze, and report data related to training, awareness initiatives, disclosures, and coordinated support activities to inform continuous improvement efforts.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor's Degree in psychology, social work, education, human ecology, equity, human rights, diversity and inclusion, or a related field; Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum three years of direct experience working with individuals who have experienced gender-based violence or sexual violence.
  • Minimum three years of experience developing and delivering training related to gender-based violence and sexual violence.
  • Experience working with survivors and alleged perpetrators through trauma-informed, anti-colonial, and anti-oppressive approaches.
  • Experience developing policies, procedures, awareness campaigns, educational initiatives, and events in alignment with legislative requirements.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, case management, data gathering, and reporting skills, with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • AASAS First Responder Training to the Disclosure of Sexual Violence and experience building partnerships with community organizations and referral networks are considered assets.

WHAT MAKES YOU A DIFFERENCE MAKER?

As a difference maker you:

  • Balance independent decision-making with collaboration and guidance to enhance gender-based and sexual violence prevention and support outcomes.
  • Take a proactive role in stakeholder engagement, partnership development, and cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Lead awareness, education, and training initiatives as the College's subject matter expert on gender-based and sexual violence prevention and response.
  • Build positive relationships with students, employees, community organizations, student support areas, and external partners.
  • Communicate confidently and effectively across diverse communities while supporting survivor-centered and culturally responsive practices.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision while managing awareness campaigns, educational initiatives, reporting requirements, and ongoing evaluation activities.
  • Demonstrate a proactive, student-centered approach that supports a safe, equitable, and inclusive learning environment.
