Who are we looking for?
The position of Technical Support Engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day engineering support for Printed Circuit Board fabricators using MacDermid Alpha's chemical processes. The successful candidate will help our customer base take full advantage of the benefits that are available through the proper application of our products. The position requires a proactive self-starter that can work closely and independently with customers, the sales group, and MacDermid internal resources to ensure that customer expectations and company interests are served while helping to service and promote MacDermid Alpha's exclusive line of products.
What will you be doing?
  • Provides customers with on-site process expertise, chemical change implementation, monitoring and hands-on process control assistance for the manufacture of printed circuit boards
  • Understands and articulates PCB chemical functions and related process requirements to customers
  • Performs regular health checks and process audits for various production processes at customer sites, generates reports and reviews with end users
  • Assists with regular lab testing functions/analysis with customer lab personnel and provides training when necessary on best practice functions, tests and analysis.
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment and or process problems and provides hands-on support to correct problems and optimize customer manufacturing processes.
  • Adheres to plant and corporate safety policies.
  • May assist in other areas or perform other duties as required by fluctuating business needs.
  • Coordinates daily activities with territory Account Manager and Business Director
  • Is an expert and steward for customer final product quality using MacDermid products
  • Identifies opportunities for growth at all customer locations
  • Assists with the monitoring and control of on-hand inventory at customer site
Who are You?
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related technical field
  • 2-5 years of experience in technical sales, applications engineering, or related roles
What competencies will you need?
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of the overall PCB business, and specifics in wet processing areas
  • Strong understanding of chemistry and chemical interaction within the PCB manufacturing process
  • Strong track record of navigating technically through complex organizations
  • Willingness to travel within the assigned territory and periodically to accounts in North America Eastern Region
  • Timely responses to the customer base, both in communication and on-site visits
  • Six Sigma knowledge would be good but not required, company training available
