Job description

Join the team building ArcGIS Location Platform, Esri’s platform as a service for developers creating mapping and location-based applications. As an entry-level product engineer, you will help test new services and capabilities, improve the website and developer dashboard, create useful examples and documentation, and support developer outreach. You will work with engineers, designers, product managers, and technical writers while developing broad product and communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Test ArcGIS Location Platform services, APIs, and developer workflows, and clearly document issues
  • Help create test plans, automated checks, prototypes, and sample applications
  • Contribute to the design and development of the ArcGIS Location Platform website and dashboard
  • Improve onboarding, account, credential, usage, and billing experiences for developers
  • Create code samples, tutorials, and documentation that make the platform easier to use
  • Work with engineering, design, product, documentation, and support teams on product improvements and releases
  • Gather developer feedback and help turn it into practical improvements
  • Support community outreach through blogs, videos, workshops, demonstrations, and conference presentations
  • Learn new web, cloud, mapping, and developer technologies as the platform evolves
Requirements
  • Familiarity with APIs, JSON, HTTP, or software testing through coursework, personal projects, internships, or previous employment
  • Familiarity with Git or another source-control system
  • An interest in mapping, cloud services, developer tools, product design, or technical communication
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively, ask questions, and learn from feedback
  • Willingness to present technical work and travel occasionally for events
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, GIS, interaction design, or a related field
