Job description

At GE Appliances, a Haier company, we come together to make "good things, for life." As the fastest-growing appliance company in the U.S., we're powered by creators, thinkers and makers who believe that anything is possible and that there's always a better way. We believe in the power of our people and in giving them the freedom to explore, discover and build good things, together.
The GE Appliances philosophy, backed by three simple commitments defines the way we work, invent, create, do business, and serve our communities: we come together, we always look for a better way, and we create possibilities.
Interested in joining us on our journey?
We are seeking a collaborative, self-motivated, and detail-oriented DevOps & Application Support Engineer to join our AI Platform engineering team. In this role, the ideal candidate will be the primary owner of the DevOps, maintenance, and support for our in-house developer and user tools, specifically Open Web UI (serving ~2,500 production users).
This is an incredible opportunity for a technical resource looking to build a strong foundation in modern cloud infrastructure, automation, and AI tooling. While the primary focus of the role will be environment management, triaging issues, and keeping our platforms running smoothly, the DevOps & Application Support Engineer will also have an opportunity to actively contribute to core AI Platform development as workload bandwidth allows.
Position
AI Engineer: DevOps & Application Support
Location
USA, Louisville, KY
How You'll Create Possibilities
Essential Responsibilities:
  • Open Web UI Lifecycle & Environment Management: Maintain our in-house fork for Open Web UI. Pull and test the latest community updates and manage deployments across our Dev and Prod environments (supporting ~2,500 active users in Prod).
  • Support, Triage & Operations: Own the end-to-end technical support lifecycle for Open Web UI. This includes infrastructure troubleshooting, monitoring, triaging user-reported bugs, and coordinating issue resolution.
  • AI Platform Development: contribute directly to the development of our broader AI Platform, writing code and collaborating with senior engineers.
  • Continuous Integration & Delivery (CI/CD): Maintain and optimize pipelines to automate the build, testing, and deployment of updates to our managed applications.
  • Collaboration & Agile Practices: Work closely with the AI Platform engineering team. Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives.

What You'll Bring to Our Team
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience)
  • 3 years of experience in software engineering, systems administration, DevOps, or technical support
  • Version Control Proficiency: Practical experience using Git/GitHub, including managing branches, merging, and handling forks of open-source projects
  • Containerization Basics: Basic understanding of Docker and deploying containerized applications
  • Multi-Environment Management: Familiarity with deploying applications across separate lifecycles (Dev, QA, Prod)
  • Strong Troubleshooting Skills: Excellent analytical skills with a passion for triaging infrastructure issues and resolving user support requests
  • Communication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to interface directly with internal users and collaborate effectively within an Agile team

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Basic scripting or programming skills (e.g., Python, Bash, JavaScript/Node.js)
  • Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or Google Cloud
  • Understanding of basic networking, security concepts, and database management (SQL/NoSQL)
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk) to track application health

Our Culture
Our work is centered on our People and Culture as reflected in our Zero Distance philosophy and we recognize the importance of reaffirming our commitment to inclusion and diversity (I&D). This underscores our commitment to fostering an environment where every individual feels valued, connected, and empowered to contribute, while positioning our organization to adapt seamlessly to the evolving needs of our workforce and communities.
