Thea Energy is leveraging recent breakthroughs in stellarator physics and engineering to create a faster and simpler approach to commercializing fusion energy. The company is reinventing the stellarator using computer-controlled arrays of planar coils thereby replacing the intricate, complex modular magnets required in all other stellarator architectures. Thea Energy is on a mission to create a limitless source of zero emission energy for a sustainable future.
Position Overview:
Thea Energy is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Supply Chain Manager to join its rapidly growing team. In this role, you will oversee all procurement activities, from requisition to payment. You will collaborate across departments, leading efforts to forecast prototyping spending, optimize procurement processes and manage supplier relationships. This role is critical to ensure that the equipment and supplies required for key company operations arrive on-time and on-budget. Additionally, you will ensure that our supply chain is closely integrated with our FP&A and strategic direction. Your efforts will directly contribute to the organization's efficiency, enabling us to drive forward towards our commercial fusion energy goal. Thea Energy's dynamic team is made up of self-motivated individuals with an excitement for solving complex problems.
Key Responsibility Areas:
  • Own the procurement process, from requisition to payment, ensuring timely availability of critical equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to optimize Thea Energy's procurement processes.
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with suppliers/vendors including negotiating contracts to secure the best terms.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally across engineering, prototyping, and finance teams to forecast demand for equipment and supplies across projects.
  • Analyze prototyping spending, provide insights and recommendations, and lead initiatives to reduce costs.
  • Monitor supplier performance and implement corrective actions as necessary to ensure quality, cost, and delivery targets are met.
  • Assist the finance team with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Fulfil other duties as determined by the Thea Energy's Finance and Strategy team.

Ideal Experience & Skillsets:
  • 5+ years of supply chain management experience with a related degree.
  • Background in supply chain management, procurement, and finance within a hard-tech environment.
  • A track record of thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic startup environment, with the ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities and take on new challenges.
  • Advanced proficiency in supply chain management tools and software, Excel and PowerPoint, to support data analysis and reporting.
  • Ability to work closely across cross-functional teams to forecast demand and ensure seamless integration of supply chain activities into project timelines and FP&A activities.
  • Demonstrated success in negotiating with and managing a diverse range of suppliers.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Exceptional work ethic.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Experience in budget management, financial analysis, and supporting finance functions.
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to occasionally lift objects up to 50 lbs.
