Supply Chain Manager

American Turbines

Sonoma, CA โ€ข On-site

Posted 4 days ago

Job description

The power grid was built for a world that no longer exists. Centralized generation, hundred-mile transmission lines, decade-long permitting cycles. Meanwhile, demand is exploding: AI data centers, industrial electrification, remote operations that need megawatts yesterday and can't wait for utilities to catch up.

American Turbines is designing small modular gas turbines, purpose-built for distributed power generation. Machines designed from a blank sheet to be manufactured at scale, clustered in arrays. Hundreds of units operating in parallel, dynamically matching load like a compute cluster matches demand. We are a seed-stage company backed by the investors behind SpaceX, Boom Supersonic, and Hadrian.

About The Role

The Supply Chain Manager helps our team source materials and get parts in shop asap. Today that means the parts for our first machines, working with machine shops and exploring the many options we can choose. Lead times on these parts set our schedule just as much as engineering does. Your job is to make the supply chain move faster than the design cycle.

Near term, you'll find and qualify suppliers, negotiate lead times and pricing, and manage purchasing and delivery against the build schedule. You'll sit with the engineers and join the early team here at American Turbines.

By 2027 the job changes: turbines in production on a rolling assembly. You will build the procurement system for rate manufacturing: supplier quality, incoming inspection, inventory, logistics, and the supplier base to support thousands of units per year. You'll hire the team that runs it.

What we're looking for

You've sourced precision hardware: aerospace, turbomachinery, EV, or adjacent. You know how machine shops, foundries, and forge houses actually work, you can read a drawing and tell a supplier exactly why their part is late. You've negotiated with suppliers and have won almost impossible deals.
