We are seeking an experienced logistics leader with a strong background in produce distribution, transportation management, and supply chain operations. This position is responsible for overseeing national logistics strategies, optimizing transportation processes, managing carrier relationships, and ensuring the efficient movement of fresh produce across multiple locations. The ideal candidate will have proven experience managing large-scale logistics operations within the food, agriculture, or produce industry.

Job Summary

The National Produce Logistics Manager oversees and manages nationwide logistics operations supporting produce distribution. This role is responsible for developing transportation strategies, improving supply chain efficiency, managing carrier partnerships, and ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of products. The position works closely with operations, procurement, warehouse teams, and external transportation partners to maintain product quality, service levels, and operational excellence.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage national logistics operations supporting produce distribution across multiple locations.
  • Develop and implement transportation strategies to improve efficiency, service, and cost control.
  • Oversee inbound and outbound transportation planning, routing, scheduling, and execution.
  • Manage relationships with carriers, brokers, vendors, and third-party logistics providers.
  • Negotiate transportation rates and evaluate carrier performance.
  • Monitor transportation costs, delivery performance, and operational KPIs.
  • Ensure timely movement of fresh produce while maintaining product quality and customer requirements.
  • Partner with warehouse, procurement, inventory, and operations teams to improve supply chain performance.
  • Analyze logistics data, identify trends, and implement process improvements.
  • Develop solutions for transportation challenges, delays, capacity issues, and service concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety requirements, DOT regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Support cold chain logistics processes and temperature-controlled transportation requirements.
  • Manage logistics budgets, expenses, and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures for transportation and logistics operations.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop logistics team members.
  • Provide regular reporting and updates to executive leadership.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain network.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Agriculture, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in logistics, transportation, supply chain, or produce distribution operations.
  • Previous management experience overseeing national or multi-site logistics operations required.
  • Experience working with fresh produce, food distribution, agriculture, or temperature-controlled transportation strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation management, freight operations, and supply chain processes.
  • Proven experience managing carrier relationships and negotiating transportation solutions.
