Summary:
POSITION SUMMARY:
The OR Supply Chain Manager oversees the planning, implementation, and tracking of supply chain functions within the surgical areas.
POSITION EDUCATION/ QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or GED graduate required
• Valid Texas driver's license required
• At least (4) years' experience in supply chain required
• Experience in OR supply chain required
• Requires good communication and organizational skills
• Must possess reasoning ability and good independent judgment
• Must be familiar with surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment
• Must have the ability to develop inventory tracking systems for all of the above and must have working knowledge of computers and software applications
- Computer knowledge is required
• Must be able to be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues
• Good written and verbal communication skills required
• Ability to read, write, and speak English
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with all levels of nursing, administration, and physicians
JOB KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:

Responsibilities:
POSITION RESPONSIBILITES:
• Integrates the department(s) and its services into the organization's primary mission
• Leads initiatives resulting in enhanced physician, patient and employee satisfaction and improved quality
• Ensures that adequate, appropriately competent and qualified staff is available to meet patient care needs
• Actively works to develop and maintain good working relationships with medical staff, other leadership within the organization and staff
• Collaborates with the Surgical Service Directors
• Coordinates and integrates services within the department(s) and with other departments
• Coordinates and participates in orientation of new staff in Supply Chain in the OR space
• Meet with vendors and management staff to provide assistance in their quest for new products and processes to provide quality patient care
• Plans for a smooth flow of daily surgical caseload by coordinating and communicating with the OR Leadership and Sterile Processing Leadership
• Serves as the Operating Room's primary contact for surgical instrument and equipment vendors
• Contacts Sales Representatives and vendors for in-service on specialty products
• Check on consignment agreements for proper pricing on products
• Make sure that Consignment items are replaced as soon as possible.(When item is used replacement must be ordered ASAP)
• Go thru Consignment lists to make sure that all products are available at all times
• Check with Sales Reps. for items that can be upgraded and given better price
• Make sure that sales reps are following procedures while in the facility
• Check on the movement of inventory, items that move or have a high usage to make sure good par level is in place, and the items that don't move keep a low inventory
• Coordinates with vendors for loaner instrument trays needed for specialty cases
• Responsible for the management of the operation and functions of the OR Supply Chain areas from day to day
• Responsible to promote safety, cost effective use of resources, and the delivery of quality service that is satisfying to the hospital
• Assesses the inventory level on a constant basis to maximize accuracy of levels ordered and maintained
• Manages and guides staff members to properly stock and distribute supplies and equipment accurately and efficiently
• Addresses Missing Items report with staff on a daily basis
• Analyzes and evaluates services rendered to improve quality of department service
• Employs policies, equipment and staff to gain the most effective means of achieving quality service
• Demonstrates the ability to provide the appropriate equipment and supplies that meets the requirements of the hospital
• Develops leadership qualities in staff members by delegating responsibly that they may be successful in their attempts to carry out delegated duties
• Expedites orders, research and resolve delays in products being shipped or received at this facility
• Coordinates readiness of OR Supply Chain areas for Physical Inventory
• May perform other tasks and duties as assigned that are appropriate with operation of the Supply Chain Department

• B. Working Conditions: The individual spends over 95% of his/her time in an air-conditioned environment with varying exposures to noise. There is protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes. The position does have low exposure to malodorous, infectious body fluids from patients and some minimal exposure to noxious smells from cleansing agents.
C. Occupational Exposure: This position has minimal to no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues and is an OSHA Category III (although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone, anywhere, might encounter potential exposure to body fluids). Person who performs these duties are not called upon as part of their employment to perform or assist in emergency medical care or first aid or to be potentially exposed in some other way.
