Job Description Summary

Dauch is searching for a Lead Supplier Quality Engineer to join our team. This position will be based out of our World Headquarters, located in Detroit, MI.
As a Lead Supplier Quality Engineer, you would be responsible for managing and developing suppliers. This role is critical to meeting objectives to meet & improve Launch Performance and Current production parts Quality.

Job Description:

  • Ensure adherence to Supplier Launch Performance Manual for new programs through completing APQP (Advanced Part Quality Planning) phases that lead to flawless Quality (PPAP - Production Part Approval Process), Capacity Planning and Verification. Escalate red issues and "date to green" plan to appropriate management. Ensure compliance to On-site review cadence of cross-functional teams based on priority levels. Complete PPAPs on time.
  • Plan & execute SQ4th assessments. Follow up on actions from red/yellow path to green on critical suppliers.
  • Drive robust problem-solving process for Supplier Quality issues related to PRR's, Stop Shipment/build, Field Service Actions, Read Across Best Practices into Commodity Control Plans.
  • Support on-site Supplier's Process capacity issues resolution - ensure a production plan exists to meet requirements and manage "date to green" plan.
  • Conduct Supplier's Manufacturing Site Assessments to support sourcing through appropriate forums.
  • Lead cross-functional team during Technical reviews and respective deliverable sign off.
  • Support Implementation of VAVE activities to achieve cost reduction targets.
  • Complete SQE Site Engineer training driving compliance to all organizational and corporate training requirements.
  • Support on-site Supplier emerging issues (Quality, manufacturing, delivery, etc.).
  • Engage with critical suppliers and address systemic Quality, capacity, and manufacturing issues.
  • Understand interpretation and application of global quality standards (ISO-9001 & IATF-19649, and VDA 6.3).
  • Ability to travel up to 50% as required (local to Metro Detroit as well as within United States).
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering, or similiar
  • 7+ years experience in supplier/OEM environment.
  • Deep expertise in machining aluminum, iron, and/or powdered metals and their manufacturing processes.
