As the RN House Supervisor at Acute Rehabilitation Hospital of Plano in Plano, TX you will be responsible for staff, management, and coordination of nursing service activities for the scheduled working shift in accordance with established philosophy, objectives, and policies of the hospital to ensure safe, efficient, and therapeutic patient care. He or she will relate effectively with other shifts for continuity of care.

Essential Duties:
  • Manages guidance and counseling activities for staff on the designated shift.
  • Manages activities, nursing care, and the execution of nursing and hospital policies during the scheduled shift.
  • Coordinates activities of the nursing service through floor nurses.
  • Reviews nursing staffing patterns, checks attendance, and revises the daily staff schedule as necessary.
  • Assists in interpreting hospital policy and state law related to the nursing service.
  • Participates in hospital safety procedures and programs.
  • Evaluates and recommends changes in nursing service records.
  • Informs the Chief Clinical Officer or Nurse Manager of nursing activities, needs, problems, and unusual events.
  • Recommends the purchase of supplies and equipment required for the nursing service.
  • Makes routine nursing service checks on staff, timecards, equipment, materials, supplies, etc.
  • Makes recommendations to the Chief Clinical Officer to hire, promote, suspend, and terminate nursing service employees.
  • Maintains and assists in orientation programs for new employees.
  • Investigaates and reports complaints.
  • Responsible for enforcing and auditing staff on a consistent basis with regards to infection control procedures.
  • Demonstrated high level of nursing skill and leadership ability.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Understanding of hospital policy.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Registered nurse (RN) required.
  • Current ASL CPR Certification required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in nursing.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills needed.
  • Strong written and verbal skills required.
