BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
โ€ข Must hold a valid Alabama Substitute License or valid Alabama Teaching Certificate.
โ€ข Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
โ€ข Must be physically able to perform the job.
โ€ข Must follow all AIDB policies and procedures and state and federal laws.
โ€ข Must remain awake and alert at all times.
โ€ข Must be able to adhere to confidentiality requirements.
โ€ข Must be able to handle emergency situations in a calm manner.
โ€ข Must have the ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Alabama School for the Deaf (ASD ) Teacher Position will require a sign language proficiency minimum entry level of Survival Plus according to the AIDB evaluation system. All applicants must provide documentation of sign language proficiency or take a sign language proficiency interview (SLPI available through AIDB).
POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
โ€ข Performs duties in the absence of full-time AIDB staff as required for the position including, but not limited to the following:
โ€ข Assumes the responsibility for instructing classes when a teacher is absent.
โ€ข Assumes other responsibilities for that teacher during the time the teacher is absent.
โ€ข Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class and during lunch and other activities.
โ€ข Other duties as assigned.
โ€ข Upon offer of employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB.
Payroll: $12.24 Alabama Substitute License Scale S1 Rank HS
$20.40Alabama Teacher Certification or AIDB Retired Teacher with a Substitute License Scale PH Rank 01
