Your Mission: A Prep Cook prepares food in accordance with applicable federal, state and corporate standards, guidelines and regulations with established policies and procedures. Ensures quality food service is provided at all times. Helps primarily with prepping food for fresh nutritional salads and assorted produce for salad bars and soups, catering and the production menus.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepares items to be used in standardized recipes.
  • Follows daily production sheets using outlined standards, accurate portioning, and correct temperature.
  • Cleans kitchen after preparation and serving, maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
  • Stores or discards excess food in accordance with safe food-handling procedures.
  • Keeps refrigerators, freezers, and storerooms clean and neat.
  • Ensures food and supply items are stored and labeled per standards.
  • Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed.
  • Reports needed maintenance, faulty equipment, or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
  • Attends in-service and safety meetings.
  • Follows Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) guidelines to ensure the quality and safety of food supply.
  • Complies with federal, state and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures.
  • Demonstrate the Sun Health Vibrant Living culture and provide all customers/audience with an excellent service experience by consistently demonstrating Sun Health behaviors (the 6 Cs) every day.

Your Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain a Food Handlers certificate.
  • Previous cooking experience preferred.
  • Possess current or has the ability to obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card is required.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office including Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills required.
