Job description

Position: Health and Wellbeing Coach


Wage: $17.13 to $19.19 per hour (Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with most new hires starting between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range)


Hours: Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week


Location: Gordon Family YMCA, Sumner, WA

As a Health and Wellbeing Coach, you will be expected to serve and build relationships by connecting with members who struggle to maintain a healthy lifestyle. You will guide and direct all fitness enthusiasts, regardless of fitness level, through YMCA programs. If hired, you will be expected to treat every participant fairly and equally regardless of circumstances and abilities, making each feel good about themselves while creating an encouraging and fun environment.

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or two years of related knowledge and experience (preferred).
Knowledge of basic health and fitness principles and components, exercise prescriptions, and strength training machines.
Ability to set an excellent example in health, fitness, and member service.
Experience coaching and/or teaching group exercise classes (preferred).
YMCA Foundations of Strength and Conditioning and/or Foundations of Group Exercise certification, or equivalent certification (such as ACE, ACSM, or AFAA) (preferred).
Positive attitude with experience working with diverse populations.
Ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).
Committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.

Key Responsibilities:
Deliver equipment orientations
Teach and demonstrate proper form and technique
Assist with personalized workout routines
Ensure established safety guidelines are followed
