Job description

Registered Nurse (RN) -School Nursing
Cedar Springs, MI | Starting at $48,000 annually | Benefits Eligible | Summers Off
Why Nurses Choose HealthBar
Healthcare doesn't have to mean long shifts, unpredictable schedules, or rushing from patient to patient.
At HealthBar, our school nurses build meaningful relationships, have the time to deliver thoughtful care, and receive ongoing support from an experienced clinical leadership team.
Our nurses choose school nursing because it offers:
  • Predictable daytime hours
  • Nights, weekends, holidays, and summers off
  • Time to build meaningful relationships instead of managing high patient volumes
  • A collaborative team environment
  • Clinical support when you need it
  • The opportunity to make a lasting impact on students and families
Why This Role Is Different
School nursing is different from almost every other nursing role.
Instead of caring for dozens of patients during a shift, you'll have the opportunity to provide thoughtful, relationship-based care in one school community. You'll become a trusted healthcare resource for students, families, and school staff while helping students safely participate in their education.
Every day is meaningful, collaborative, and predictable... As predictable as nursing can get. You'll work alongside teachers, therapists, administrators, and families to support student health while enjoying a schedule that leaves your evenings, weekends, holidays, and summers free.
This position primarily supports a student with ongoing medical needs while also serving as a valued member of the school's health team when additional support is needed.
Schedule
  • 4 days per week, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
  • Approx 32 hours per week| 0.64 FTE
  • Wednesdays and Fridays will alternate as the scheduled day off each week, creating a rotating four-day workweek.
This role follows the school-year calendar, meaning you have:
  • Summers off
  • School holidays off
  • Evenings and weekends off
Compensation
  • Starting at $48,000 annually
Benefits
  • Direct access to a clinical provider for you, your spouse, and dependents
  • Discounted care through HealthBar's healthcare network
  • Medical insurance (with HSA option)
  • Paid PTO
  • Biannual Profit Sharing
  • Voluntary 401(k)
  • Short- and long-term disability & life insurance
  • Licensure and certification renewal support
What Your Days Look Like
You'll provide nursing support within the school setting, including:
  • Providing nursing care for a student throughout the school day
  • Performing tracheostomy care and monitoring the student's respiratory status
  • Administering medications and treatments as prescribed
  • Assessing and responding to illness, injuries, or medical emergencies during the school day
  • Maintaining accurate health records and documenting care provided
  • Collaborating with teachers, administrators, therapists, and families to support the student's health and educational goals
  • Serving as a health resource for school staff and assisting with health-related needs as appropriate
Program Details
This position is primarily focused on supporting a student who requires ongoing tracheostomy care throughout the school day.
This role offers the opportunity to build a meaningful, long-term relationship with a student and school community while providing consistent nursing support throughout the school year.
Seeking an RN who is detail-oriented, consistent, and comfortable following individualized care plans while building a strong relationship with the student.
This Role Is a Great Fit If...
You're an RN who enjoys building strong relationships with students and providing individualized care in a school environment. This role is ideal for someone who values routine, delivers consistent, high-quality care, and wants meaningful work with a predictable schedule, with summers off, and strong work-life balance.
The (Required) Qualifications
To practice safely and compliantly, we do need:
  • Active, unrestricted Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Experience with tracheostomy care preferred
  • Experience working with pediatric patients or school-aged children preferred
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with school staff and families
  • BLS certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross) within 90 days of hire
  • Background check and fingerprinting will be required for this role
