Job description

St. John the Evangelist is a nationally recognized Blue Ribbon School.  We have a faith filled, team oriented culture and are seeking candidates for Aide positions at St. John the Evangelist School for the 26-27 school year. This is an excellent opportunity to get hands-on experience in the classroom for Elementary Education majors or people looking for summers off!

Specific Task/Duties:

  • Assists teachers and students with lessons, such as reading circles, centers, work groups, projects,etc.
  • Monitors student behavior and helps keep students focused and on task
  • Helps to create and maintain organized, vibrant and stimulating classroom environment which may include changing bulletin boards, displaying student work or seasonal/liturgical decorations
  • Handles setup and clean up of materials needed for science experiments, art projects, etc.
  • Grades student work and posts grades to RenWeb in as directed by teachers
  • Assists in supervising students and upholds strong discipline standards in classroom and within the entire school and ensures that students are never left unattended.
  • Performs other duties as instructed by classroom teacher(s)
  • Monitors and oversees all students during both indoor and outdoor recess periods and ensures the safety of all children during recess periods
  • Helps to direct all students outside of normal class time such as during class changes, emergency drills, Mass or other liturgical celebrations, field trips and during drop off pick up, etc.
  • Participates, as directed by the Principal, in meetings, school committees, mandatory in-services and appropriate continuing education for professional development, which may be outside of the normal school day
  • Chairs or participates in committees for special projects such as school assemblies, liturgical season, clubs and bowls, etc.
  • Provides support for children with special learning needs in conjunction with the School Resource and classroom teacher
  • Communicates professionally and respectfully with students, parents, administrators and other staff
