The Registered RN is a professional care-giver who, as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team, assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and who supervises and provides care to these patients utilizing the nursing process including the therapeutic use of self. Follows established policies and procedures. Communicates openly with internal customers and supervisors. Provides excellent customer service interfacing well with all levels of staff, management and physicians. Applies Cooper core values. Other duties as required.

The Mother Infant Unit consists of 24 beds (between the 3rd and 5th floor of the Dorrance Building). This unit specializes in the care of the post-partum couplet. The care includes frequent assessments for post-partum complications of the mother and newborn including but not limited to preeclampsia, post-partum hemorrhage, and infant hypoglycemia. This unit specializes in offering emotional support to the new dyad while also providing extensive teaching and crucial education prior to discharge.


Two years minimum of acute RN women and children's experience required.


Graduate of NLN accredited School of Nursing 


Current NJ-RN License (Registered Nurse); Current American Heart Association BLS Certification (Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers); certain specialties may require advanced certification (i.e. ACLS, NALS, PALS)


Per diem,7AM-7PM, weekends and holidays required.

Pool requirements: Nurses shall work at least two (2) weekend shifts per six week schedule and one (1) other shift per 6 week schedule.  In addition, two (2) holiday shifts per year (one winter and one summer). Weekend shifts are defined as one Friday/one Saturday or one Saturday/one Sunday for night shift and one Saturday/one Sunday for day shift.  Nurses must schedule themselves for the full shift, as assigned, in order to meet these work requirements.
