Job description

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Summer Senior Group Leader is responsible for working with a group of elementary or middle school students, helping them achieve their best in both academic and non-academic settings. He/she develops, implements, and participates in a range of activities that actively engages participants in an academically, culturally enriching, and structured youth development environment. Summer Senior Group Leader will help young people to develop individualized strategies for meeting their goals and improving their academic skills. Summer Senior Group Leader will actively participate as a mentor to Group Leaders, working across several grade levels (K-2, 3-5, or 6-8)
Student Safety & Classroom Management
  • Ensure Comprehensive Supervision: Maintain strict safety protocols for all participants during classroom time, transitions, meals, and off-site trips.

  • Cultivate Environment: Establish a comfortable, inclusive learning environment with clear, age-appropriate rules and behavioral expectations.

  • Oversee Logistics: Manage classroom cleanliness, organization, and the proper inventory/use of program supplies and materials.

Program Delivery
  • Facilitate Enrichment: Lead students in a diverse range of academically and culturally enriching activities, ensuring high levels of engagement and long-term progress.

  • Model Best Practices: Demonstrate expert child development practices and classroom management techniques for the broader team to emulate.

Staff Mentorship & Team Collaboration
  • Mentor Junior Staff: Serve as a direct mentor to Summer Group Leaders across various grade levels (K-8), providing coaching on classroom management and activity execution.

  • Support Program Operations: Assist in leading weekly Team Meetings and professional development workshops.

  • Promote Professionalism: Model a polite, respectful, and professional demeanor when communicating with staff, parents, and community members.

  • Ensure Group Leaders are conducting Lesson Plans as prescribed by the PN Education Team.

Administrative & Communication Oversight
  • Manage Records: Ensure the accuracy of participant attendance, activity logs, and sign-out records.

  • Bridge Communication: Supervise and maintain open lines of communication between Group Leaders, parents, and day-school teachers to ensure holistic student support.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.

Qualifications:
  • Maintain consistent availability Monday through Friday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. (Candidates must be able to commit to this full schedule)

  • The candidate must have a High School Diploma or GED

  • Preferred Bachelors or better in Academic.

  • Two years or more experience with at least one year with youth

  • Bilingual (Spanish) speaking a plus
