What are some common challenges faced by summer vehicle wrap designers, and how can they be addressed?

Summer Vehicle Wrap Designers often face tight project deadlines due to the seasonal influx of campaigns and promotions, which can lead to high-pressure situations. Working with diverse vehicle surfaces and ensuring accurate measurements for each unique vehicle model are also frequent challenges. What is a summer vehicle wrap designer?

A Summer Vehicle Wrap Designer is a graphic design professional who specializes in creating custom designs for vehicle wraps, typically working on a seasonal or temporary basis during the summer months. Their main role involves developing visually appealing graphics that are printed onto vinyl and applied to vehicles for advertising or decorative purposes. These designers work closely with clients to understand branding needs, prepare print-ready files, and sometimes oversee the installation process. The job requires proficiency with design software such as Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop, creativity, and attention to detail. Summer positions may be available through print shops, marketing agencies, or wrap installation companies.

Job description

Description
REV Designs is a vehicle graphics and branding studio in Las Cruces, NM. We design, produce, and install commercial fleet wraps, emergency vehicle graphics, and custom vehicle builds. We're not a print-and-stick shop - we're a design-first operation where creative quality drives everything we do. We're looking for a Production Designer who's fast and precise in Adobe Illustrator, understands print production workflows, and takes pride in clean file structure.
Responsibilities
• Prepare production-ready files for vehicle wraps, fleet graphics, decals, and signage
• Execute vehicle wrap layouts from approved concepts and templates
• Handle day-to-day production: decal orders, repeat layouts, file prep, cut paths, and color management
• Support the Lead Designer on brand packages, including layout, asset prep, and mockups
• Maintain organized file structures, naming conventions, and production standards
• Coordinate with the production and install team to ensure files are print-ready and on schedule
• Assist with production and install as needed - cross-training is part of how our team operates
Qualifications
• 2-5 years of professional design experience (agency, print shop, sign shop, or in-house)
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Illustrator - this is your primary tool
• Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop
• Strong understanding of print production: Pantone matching, ICC profiles, bleeds, and large-format file prep
• Clean, organized file management habits
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines without reminders
• Vehicle wrap or large-format print experience is a plus, but not required
