This internship is designed for a JD/MBA student interested in the intersection of corporate finance, legal review, contracts, compliance, and business operations. The intern will work directly with the CFO/General Counsel and gain practical exposure to the legal and financial issues that support the management of a growing government contracting and construction firm.
What You'll Do
The intern will support the CFO/General Counsel on a range of legal, financial, and operational matters, including:
  • Reviewing, organizing, and summarizing contracts, agreements, and corporate documents

  • Assisting with financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting
  • Preparing summaries, memos, and recommendations for internal decision-making
  • Supporting contract administration, document management, and internal process improvements
  • Assisting with research related to regulations, risk, insurance, vendor agreements, and corporate policies
  • Helping evaluate financial, legal, and operational considerations tied to company initiatives

  • Contract review and legal issue spotting
  • Government contracting compliance and administration
  • Budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
  • Risk management and internal controls
  • Executive-level business operations in a small-business government contracting environment
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a JD/MBA student who is analytical, detail-oriented, discreet, and comfortable working with confidential business information.
Strong candidates will have:
  • Excellent writing, research, and communication skills

  • Ability to review legal and business documents and identify key issues
  • Proficiency with Excel and comfort working with financial information
  • Interest in corporate law, finance, government contracting, construction, compliance, or business operations
  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and handle sensitive information professionally
  • Prior exposure to contracts, accounting, finance, compliance, or government contracting is a plus
  • Prior military experience or familiarity with veteran-owned business programs is a plus
Schedule and Location
This is a paid internship based in New Orleans, Louisiana. The summer role is expected to be full-time, with some flexibility to accommodate academic obligations and summer travel.
