Job Title: Summer Teen Mentor

Location: Multiple program locations across the Atlanta Metro Area

Department: Summer Programs

Reports to: Site Coordinator

Position Type: Seasonal. Part Time

Program Duration: 6 Week Summer Program during June and July

Eligibility: High School Juniors and Seniors Only



Job Overview

Artportunity Knocks is offering a Summer Teen Mentor opportunity for high school juniors and seniors who are interested in gaining leadership experience, work exposure, and community service while supporting younger students in our summer enrichment programs.


Teen Mentors will assist instructors and the Site Coordinator with daily program activities, help guide younger students, and support a positive learning environment. This role is designed to build leadership, responsibility, teamwork, and job readiness skills while giving teens hands on experience working in youth programs.


This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in education, youth development, leadership, or community service.



Key Responsibilities



Student Support and Mentorship

Assist instructors with classroom activities, projects, and daily lessons

Support younger students during arts, STEAM, games, and enrichment activities

Encourage positive participation and teamwork among students

Serve as a role model by demonstrating respect, leadership, and responsibility



Program Support

Assist the Site Coordinator and instructors with daily program duties

Help with setting up materials, organizing supplies, and cleaning activity spaces

Support transitions between activities and program rotations

Assist during arrival, dismissal, and meal times



Leadership Development

Help maintain a positive and inclusive environment for all students

Encourage younger students and support their participation in activities

Model good behavior including teamwork, sportsmanship, and citizenship

Learn basic leadership and workplace skills throughout the program



Safety and Supervision

Assist staff in monitoring student groups during activities and transitions

Follow program safety guidelines and site procedures

Help ensure students remain safe and engaged throughout the day



Qualifications



Required

Must be a current High School Junior or Senior

Interest in leadership, mentoring, or working with younger students

Positive attitude and willingness to learn

Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team

Must provide teacher or leadership references

Ability to participate for the full 6 week summer program



Preferred

Previous volunteer experience working with children

Participation in school leadership, clubs, or community service programs
