Who We Are
Founded in 1946, Kingswood Community Center, Inc. (KCC) sits in the heart of the Riverside Community located in Northeast Wilmington. KCC's mission is to enable people in Northeast Wilmington and surrounding communities to achieve their potential for economic, social, and personal well-being. KCC offers programs for the youngest and oldest alike, as it includes an early learning center for 12 months to 5 years of age, before and aftercare, after school programming for school age youth, and a senior center for the elders in the community. In addition to programming, KCC provides resources, opportunities, and events to all ages.
What You’ll Do
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Summer Camp Counselors to create a safe, engaging, and fun environment for children ages 5–12 during our summer program, which will be hosted at our partner school, East Side Charter School. Counselors will plan and lead daily activities, supervise campers, and serve as positive role models while ensuring all children have a memorable and enriching summer experience.
Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and ensure the safety and wellbeing of campers at all times
  • Plan, organize, and lead a variety of activities including arts and crafts, sports, games, swimming, field trips, and educational programs
  • Implement age-appropriate curriculum that encourages creativity, physical activity, and social development
  • Maintain positive relationships with campers, parents, and fellow staff members
  • Assist with daily operations including check-in/check-out procedures, meal times, and transitions between activities
  • Monitor and manage camper behavior using positive guidance techniques
  • Document and communicate any incidents, accidents, or concerns to camp leadership
  • Attend all required staff training sessions and weekly staff meetings
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment
  • Assist with setup and cleanup of daily activities and special events
What We’re Looking For
Education and Experience
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • At least one year of working with youth ages 5-12.
  • Competitive hourly rate based on experience and qualifications

Certification Requirements
  • First Aid/CPR preferred; must be certified within first 10 days of hire.
Conditions of Hire
  • A satisfactory criminal background and reference check.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position assists with the supervision of youth workers.
Work Environment and Requirements
  • Schedule: June 15th - August 7th. Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM/8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (hours may vary based on program needs).
  • Location: This position will be based at our partner site, East Side Charter School, for the duration of the summer camp program.
  • Travel: Primarily local during the business day, with some out-of-area travel as needed.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to sit for extended periods, use technology, and move about to facilitate workshops or meetings.
