Job description

***OPEN TO CURRENT APS EMPLOYEES ONLY***'
  • The high school credit recovery summer school teacher provides support, instruction and guidance on a hybrid competency based credit recovery. Students will be completing standard-aligned assessments utilizing an online curriculum.
  • The teacher will provide individualized guidance and instruction as needed to assist students in completing competency - based assessment thus demonstrating proficiency in course.
  • The Hybrid teacher will combine an online curriculum with face - to - face instruction.
  • The summer school teacher will establish effective rapport with students and their parents and assist students in developing positive feelings toward themselves and others.
  • The summer school teacher will collaborate with special education to develop appropriate accommodations and modifications for students based on their IEP.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Incumbent must achieve the following outcomes with or without reasonable accommodation:
  • Coordinates and provides academic instruction to high school students.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE:
The minimum expectations for this job are as follows:
  • Knowledge of online learning including utilizing online curriculum & instructional strategies.
  • Experience with Synergy, Lesson Vue, and Common Core State Standards.
  • Ability to plan and develop academic lessons and activities based on CCSS that are highly accelerated for the short-term (3-week terms) summer school learning period.
  • Knowledge of and experience with providing mandated IEP and 504 program modifications and accommodations.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Flexibility, organization, decision making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Interpersonal skills with diverse populations' in-person and on the telephone.
  • Knowledge of the APS community, computer system, financial procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Knowledge of District policies on immunization, medication, first aid, emergencies, and child abuse/neglect.
  • Knowledge of all laws, regulations, and guidelines affecting teachers and students.
  • Knowledge of effective classroom management techniques.
  • Ability to maintain positive relationships with students, parents, community members, and staff.

REQUIREMENTS:
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS: The minimum requirements for this job are as follows:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Current New Mexico teaching certificate in the specified content area
  • Current endorsements dependent upon specific positions may be required.
  • Additional requirements may be applicable to specific positions.
  • T eachers will need to complete training on an online platform.
