Job description

Summary of Position: Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, this role is perfect for someone interested in building a career in fundraising. The Development Coordinator is a critical member of the Development Team responsible for providing strong administrative support across the team and collaborating with team members to help cultivate and steward donors and prospects. The Development Coordinator will support the individual giving team, events team, and institutional giving team, as well as support Board committee meetings. This individual plays a critical role by supporting and leading projects to enable After School Matters to reach fundraising goals.
This is a full-time position. After School Matters alumni, interns, volunteers, instructors, and other community partners are encouraged to apply.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage donor stewardship, with primary responsibility for key administrative tasks, such as:
  • Creating, saving, and sending acknowledgement letters to donors.
  • Processing in-kind donations.
  • Managing shared email inboxes.
  • Managing and updating marketing content for donor folders.
  • Manage TEAM ASM for the Chicago Marathon and Half Marathon.
  • Support the Institutional Giving team with corporate workshops, career days, and grant proposal preparation as assigned.
  • Support the Events and Donor Relations Team for all events through activities such as invoicing donors, making name tags, tracking attendance, creating forms, event preparation, and other duties as assigned.
  • Provide administrative support to the Chief Development Officer for Board Committee meetings (for the Development Committee and the Nominating and Governance Committee), assisting with PowerPoint presentations, meeting management, and other needs.
  • Support ASM leadership with donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities.
  • Conduct thorough research on current and prospective individual donors to prepare CEO, Chief Development Officer, and ASM leadership as needed for donor visits.
  • Assist in preparing donor proposals and reports.
  • Track and update Board and VIP donor information (such as birthday cards and holiday mailings) with Executive Assistant to CEO on a quarterly basis.
  • Support Advisory Board and Associate Board meetings (assisting with PowerPoint presentations, meeting management, etc.).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent administrative skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines and analyze data.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-energy environment with self-motivation, flexibility, and responsiveness.
  • Meticulous attention to detail witha commitment to a high standard of work and process excellence.
  • Sound judgment and discretion in handling sensitive matters.
  • Strong customer service orientation toward a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiencyin Microsoft Office; familiarity withfundraising CRMs (Raiser's Edge), Canva, and Zoom preferred.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2-5 years of fundraising or administrative experience required.
  • Presentation deck from a previous job or class required.
  • Proficient in fundraising software (Raiser's Edge preferred), social media, Microsoft office.
  • Commitment to a mission-driven organization, ability to maintain donor confidentiality, and desire to advance the mission and vision of ASM is required.

Salary: $55,000 - $65,000
