Job description

Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is looking for someone to join our Research & Development team as a Software Engineering Intern in Round Rock Texas. In this internship you will use a cybersecurity focus to support development, testing, and validation of secure software while collaborating with engineering teams. The ideal candidate will be able to work parttime during the academic year and fulltime during the summer.

A typical day as a Software Engineering Intern might include:

  • Supporting SEL software development processes.

  • Verifying software meets requirements.

  • Implementing firmware/software design.

  • Providing support to engineering staff as needed.

  • Following engineering quality assurance procedures.

  • Continuously identifying, measuring, and improving processes.

  • Following and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.

  • Embracing the mindset: Understand. Create. Simplify.

This job might be for you if:

  • You are a current student pursuing a degree in computer science or equivalent with two or more years of technical coursework completed.

  • You have programming experience using scripting languages, such as Python, JavaScript, Perl, Ruby.

  • You have the ability to execute and document defined testing procedures.

  • You have strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.

  • You have the ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities.

  • You have the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.

It is a plus if you have:

  • At least one year of Cybersecurity course work or certifications.

  • Programming experience in C#, C++, Java or equivalent OO programming language.

  • Practical knowledge of developing Microsoft Windows applications.

  • Knowledge of computer networking and vulnerability scanning tools.

  • Experience using revision control and source code management systems such as Git, Mercurial, SVN, and Rational ClearCase.

Pay Range Data - $24.25 - $33.00 hourly
