For the XiO Cloud Software Engineering Co-op position, we are seeking a motivated student who is passionate about technology and eager to learn from experienced software engineers. XiO Cloud is Crestron's enterprise-grade, cloud-based web application that enables IT administrators and AV professionals to remotely monitor, manage, and configure IoT edge devices deployed across commercial environments worldwide.

This Full Stack Development Co-op provides the opportunity to contribute to both backend and frontend development efforts while gaining hands-on experience with modern web technologies, cloud applications, and enterprise software development practices. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, creative, curious, and enjoys working in a collaborative engineering environment.

Through this Co-op experience, students will gain exposure to software development best practices, cloud application architecture, debugging and troubleshooting techniques, testing and automation processes, and collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

With guidance from a dedicated mentor, perform the following tasks with increasing responsibility and independence throughout the Co-op experience:

  • Contribute to well-defined projects supporting the XiO Cloud platform.
  • Assist in implementing and maintaining RESTful API endpoints using C# and ASP.NET Core.
  • Collaborate with engineers to build responsive and accessible user interface components within the Angular-based single-page application.
  • Support backend data services that manage device state and configuration data.
  • Assist in integrating frontend and backend layers to support new product features.
  • Participate in software testing, debugging, and maintenance activities.
  • Assist in developing and executing unit and integration tests to support software quality and reliability.
  • Participate in code reviews, Agile ceremonies, team discussions, and technical design conversations.
  • Document technical findings, implementation details, and test results to support team knowledge sharing.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

General Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization in the United States now and in the future.

 

Technical Skills

  • Strong programming fundamentals and object-oriented programming knowledge.
  • Understanding of software development fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Familiarity with version control using Git.
  • Coursework, project experience, or familiarity with C# and the .NET platform.
  • Familiarity with a modern SPA framework such as Angular, React, or Vue.
  • Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and TypeScript.
  • Exposure to relational or NoSQL databases and basic querying.

 

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of asynchronous programming concepts (e.g., async/await).
  • Exposure to RESTful API development and client-server application architecture.
  • Interest in cloud-based applications and full-stack web development.
