Rooted in a tradition of excellence and inspired by our Catholic character, Notre Dame is committed to fostering an environment of care that nurtures the whole person-mind, body, and spirit. Here, you will find a deep sense of belonging, a culture that prioritizes well-being, and the opportunity to grow your career while being a force for good in the world. At Notre Dame, your work matters, and so do you!
Job Description
Throughout the summer session, you will serve as a key member of a collaborative development team dedicated to the spatial reconstruction of downtown South Bend. This initiative involves the creation of a comprehensive 3D model that documents the city's architectural and infrastructural metamorphosis over a century of urban growth.
Core Objectives & Responsibilities:
  • Historical Data Synthesis: You will analyze historical records and archival materials to ensure the model accurately reflects the changing footprint of the city across different eras.
  • Technical 3D Development: Working within a specialized team, you will contribute to the design and assembly of a digital environment, translating two-dimensional historical data into a cohesive 3D space.
  • Comparative Urban Analysis: The project focuses on the "evolutionary" aspect of development, highlighting the transition from early 20th-century layouts to contemporary urban design.
  • Exhibition-Ready Deliverables: You will work toward a high-stakes final milestone: a professional-grade visualization designed for public display, serving as a bridge between the local community and its historical heritage.

Qualifications
  • Highly proficient in SketchUp with in-depth knowledge of Groups and Components.
  • Understanding of solid modeling and watertight geometry.
  • Strong attention to detail and workflows
  • Other modeling software skills are helpful
