Time Period: Week 10 - Monday, August 31 to Friday, September 4
Hours: 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. daily
Location:Orono, Ontario
Reporting to: Camp Volunteer Lead, Camp Counsellors, Camp Supervisors, Camp Director


At Brimacombe ski area we don't just offer skiing and snowboarding, we offer a place for all ages to get outside, enjoy the fresh air and create memorable experiences! Entering our ninth year of summer camps, we are currently offering volunteer opportunities to fun, outgoing, and responsible youth, who have completed our Leader-In-Training or Counsellor-In-Training program, and are looking to help us make Camp Brimacombe a fun and safe place for our campers this summer.

As avolunteer on the Camp Brimacombeteam, you willbe assigned to a group where you willshadow one of our counsellors, practicing leadership skills and assisting in programming & activities that promote learning for not only the campers, but you as well. We will treat you with respect and give you the opportunity to take ownership this summer by providing input into the activities, and helping implement positive growth of campers and the camp itself.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Shadow assigned Counsellor and help implement the weekly schedule within the assigned camp group
  • Assist in maintaining a safe and fun learning environment forcampers
  • Assist in preparing camp spaces and materials as needed throughout the day
  • Assist withprogramming and activities for campers, following Brimacombe standards and protocol
  • Follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all program areas and assist with enforcing these protocols within the camp group
  • Help create a positive camper experience, consistent with Brimacombe standards
  • Participate in on-going training sessions, as required
  • Ready to take on any challenge andhelp when needed


Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of Camp Brimacombe's LIT or CIT program
  • Completion of Ontario's Ministry of Labour Worker Health and Safety Awareness Training
  • Valid First Aid certification
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • Strong communication skills
  • Outgoing
  • Enjoy working with children
  • Ability to engage in physical labour of lifting, moving (chairs/tables etc.), bending, running and lots of walking (this is a very active job)


If selected to volunteer, you will also receive a copy of Brimacombe's Criminal Offence Declaration form which must be completed and successfully submitted prior to your first day. This onlyneeds to be completed once per summer, regardless of the numberof volunteerweeks completed.

Anumber of factors influence how many volunteer positions are available/offered each week.

LITs/CITs entering/currently enrolled high school in September that successfully pursue volunteer roles at Camp Brimacombe may be eligible to claim community involvement hours (LITs/CITs are strongly encouraged to verify with their school that the activity will count towards completion of their 40 hours).
