DescriptionJob SummaryCoordinates cultural arts programming and operations for Person County. This includes the oversight of the Kirby Theater, two galleries, Kirby Learning Studios and rental areas of the Kirby Cultural Arts Complex. Serves in various capacities to realize the College's mission of student success.
Examples of DutiesEssential Duties- Manages the operations of the Kirby Cultural Arts Complex and Person County cultural arts.
- Aids Person County Government in developing, implementing, and maintaining a budget process for the Kirby Cultural Arts Complex.
- Maintains accounting and finance processes for the Kirby Cultural Arts Complex in accordance to the policies of the Person County Finance Department.
- Plans and supervises a variety of cultural arts programs in the areas of theater, music, visual arts, and Arts in Education.
- Coordinates programming with Piedmont Community College and Person County Recreation, Arts, and Parks.
- Oversees Person County Arts Council, plans agendas, meetings, fundraising, and yearly programs.
- Ensures proper fiscal oversight and management of Person County Arts Council budget and grant contracts.
- Promotes cultural arts activities and educates others on the importance of a strong program in the community and school systems.
- Hires, trains and supervises staff under the guidance of the Person County Human Resources department and the Recreation, Arts, and Parks Director.
- Oversees program activities, including theater and summer programs for all ages.
- Partners with community and school groups to determine cultural arts needs and interests to gauge programming.
- Oversees marketing efforts for program activities via website, social media, print, radio, and direct marketing.
- Solicits sponsors, collaborates fundraising efforts, and seeks grant opportunities.
- Works with the Person County Recreation, Arts, and Parks Department Director to help ensure proper uses and maintenance of the Kirby Cultural Arts Complex.
- Coordinates public and private rental use of the facility to maintain guidelines set by Person County Government.
- Ensures rental opportunities are publicized and managed in a timely manner.
- Work with PCRAPD Director to prepare and recommend budget items for equipment, supplies, contracts, personnel, and operating for review.
- Compiles and maintains reports and records for programs, rentals, and other activities.
- Abides by the policies and procedures of the College, NCCCS, and other agencies involved in the delivery of educational programs.
- Abides by and administers the policies, rules, and procedures of Person County Government and its Recreation, Arts, and Parks Department as it pertains to the Kirby Cultural Arts complex and other Program Areas.
Additional DutiesSupervisory Responsibilities:
No direct supervisory responsibilities. In coordination with the PCRAPD Director, assist with providing technical guidance, coaching, and training to staff, as needed, to support skill development and continuity of operations.
Typical QualificationsMinimum QualificationsEducation and Experience:
- B.A. in arts or arts administration discipline. M.F.A. preferred. Or a degree related to Recreation, Arts, and Park Management or Tourism Management, Degree must be from a regionally accredited institution.
