Job description

This position will work with the Civil Engineering team by supporting the needs of our quarry operations. The intern will contribute to projects that directly impact field operations and may accompany engineers to our sites for hands-on learning and development.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with water management Best Management Practices (BMPs) and large earth moving and fill pile design, contract and permit management and construction project management.
  • Support engineers with field data collection, surveying, and site evaluations.
  • Assist with permit tracking, documentation organization, and regulatory correspondence to support active and pending permit applications.
  • Maintain and organize project files, inspection reports, and compliance records in both digital and physical formats.
  • Participate in routine environmental control inspections, including erosion and sediment control (ESC) assessments, and assist with documentation of field findings and corrective actions.
  • Communicate inspection observations clearly through written field notes and summary reports.
  • Complete an end-of-summer presentation summarizing projects, site experiences, and key learnings.

Ideal candidates will:

  • Be enrolled in a 4-year Civil Engineering program with a focus in Environment or Water Resources.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills with attention to detail in permit and file management tasks.
  • Show a willingness to work in outdoor field conditions and adapt to varying site environments.
  • Communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats with team members and field staff.
