Job Summary/Basic Function
Central State University, a NCAA Division II institution, seeks a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to serve as Director of Basketball Operations / Assistant Men's Basketball Coach. This multifaceted role supports the daily operational, logistical, and administrative functions of the men's basketball program while also contributing to on-court development and strategic planning. The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating travel, managing academic processes for incoming student-athletes, and supporting the Head Coach in various team functions, both on and off the court.
Primary Responsibilities:
Operations & Logistics:
• Coordinate all aspects of team travel, including booking flights, hotels, and team meals.
• Organize and schedule parent meetings and other team-related events.
• Manage daily operations to ensure efficient execution of the program's goals. Academic Oversight & Admissions:
• Monitor academic progress and collaborate with university academic services.
• Facilitate the admissions process for incoming student-athletes in coordination with admissions and compliance staff.
• Support student-athlete retention and success through proactive communication and academic mentoring.
Practice & Game Support:
• Assist in practice planning, scouting, and game preparation.
• Contribute to in-practice instruction and game-day operations as needed.
Summer Camps & Events:
• Organize, schedule, and oversee summer basketball camps and clinics.
• Ensure all logistics, compliance, and safety measures are effectively managed.
Technology & Creative Media:
• Utilize software such as Sportscode, Hudl, Synergy, and Spry for video analysis, performance tracking, and operations.
• Assist with creation of visual content for recruiting and branding using Canva and other graphic design tools.
• Support social media and promotional strategies in partnership with the athletics communications team.
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
• Prior experience in basketball operations or collegiate coaching strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with Sportscode, Hudl, Synergy, Spry, Canva, and digital content creation tools.
• Strong organizational, multitasking, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and travel.
• Commitment to student-athlete development and compliance with NCAA rules and regulations.
