What is a Summer Nurse Extern Program?

A Summer Nurse Extern Program is a temporary, structured opportunity for nursing students to gain hands-on clinical experience in a healthcare setting during the summer months. These programs are designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world practice by allowing students to work alongside registered nurses and other healthcare professionals. Externs typically assist with patient care, observe procedures, and develop their clinical skills under supervision. The experience helps students build confidence and prepare for their future roles as registered nurses.
