Accelerated RN Student Nurse Extern Program: Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital

About the Extern Program


Orlando Health’s Accelerated RN Student Nurse Extern (ASNE) Program is a special program beginning on September 4, 2026 – February 27, 2027 OR until graduation), one day a week, with preference given to students who do not have the summer off during the nursing program. An externship in nursing at Orlando Health will give you experience engaging with an essential piece of the profession… patients! ASNE's have an opportunity to: 

  • Expose you to nursing departments to gain experience, confidence and competence as you enter your senior year in nursing school
  • Work directly with a RN trained preceptor… 1-on-1!  This is an amazing opportunity to build a relationship with your preceptor and see first-hand a day in the life of a nurse at Orlando Health! 
  • Participate in supplementary educational sessions to continue your learning journey 
  • Build your confidence as a future nurse
  • Work at one hospital on an assigned unit (assignment shared at the time of offer)  
  • Work up to 12 hours/week (Note: ASNE’s follow their preceptor’s schedule)
  • Explore/apply to system-wide nursing opportunities to secure a graduate nurse position while in the program! 

It doesn’t end there! During your externship program, you will have the opportunity to network with Orlando Health nursing leadership, give back to the community, receive mentorship, and, most importantly, impact patient care. And, of course, have a little bit of fun too!

ASNE’s applying for this job posting will be considered for the following Orlando Health facility:  

  • Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital

Qualifications 

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited Associates or Bachelor of Science in Nursing program with an expected graduation date of December 2026 through April 2027 required
    • Candidates must have nursing program courses and clinicals during the Summer 2026 semester
  • Enrolled in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing program preferred 
  • Availability to participate in the ASNE Program from September 4, 2026 through February 2027 (or until graduation), one 12-hour shift a week, with minimal absence required 
  • Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0

Licensure/Certifications 

  • Active BLS certification through end of April 2027 is required
  • Additional clearances may be required based on location and specialty; specific instructions will be provided during onboarding/prior to start dateÂ
