Job description

Computational Neuroscience Intern- Joy Lab
The Jackson Laboratory (JAX) is seeking a motivated Computational Neuroscience Intern to join the Joy Lab for a summer internship. The Joy Lab studies mechanisms of neural repair after stroke using large-scale neural recordings, ethological measurements of behavior, optogenetics, and transcriptomics. The successful candidate will work with datasets collected from neurophysiological recordings and animal behavior experiments. Primary responsibilities will include developing and implementing statistical and machine learning models for data analysis, data mining, data curation, and storage in research repositories.
This internship offers significant opportunities for professional growth, including the chance to develop novel methods and evaluate existing approaches in computational neuroscience. The intern will work closely with members of the Joy Lab, learn about relevant biological questions and scientific literature, apply analytical models to complex datasets, and contribute to scientific publications.
Candidates are expected to have an undergraduate degree. A master's degree or experience in one or more areas such as neuroscience, machine learning, computational biology, statistics, data science, or a related field, is desirable. Remote work may be possible; however, the candidate is expected to communicate regularly and effectively with lab members.
Applications should include a CV and a cover letter describing the candidate's interest in the position.
Pay Range: $14.5 - $30.51
