School Summary

Georgia Connections Academy is a tuition-free, full-time virtual school for students in grades K-12 throughout Georgia.ย  The school is authorized by the Georgia Charter Schools Commission and governed by an independent Board of Directors, with a mission to maximize academic achievement for students who are seeking other academic options.ย  The school is operated by Georgia Connections Academy, a nonprofit corporation, through a contract with Connections Academy of Georgia, LLC, to provide its educational program and other services. Connections Academy, a division of Connections Education, is accredited by AdvancED, and GACA is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement.

Position Summary and Responsibilities

Georgia Connections Academy (GACA) is seeking qualified and dedicated Temporary Math and ELA Teachers to provide summer school support to students in grades 3-5. The temporary summer school teachers will deliver targeted academic assistance aligned to the Georgia Standards of Excellence, focusing on building student confidence, reinforcing foundational skills, and preparing students for end-of-year success and other key academic benchmarks. These staff members will be temporary staff members; this is not a long-term position.ย 

Responsibilities:
  • Provide small-group math and/or ELA sessions in a virtual environment.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to studentsโ€™ specific academic needs and grade levels.
  • Use academic data to guide instruction and monitor progress.
  • Foster a supportive and engaging learning environment that encourages student participation and growth.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and session notes.
  • Communicate regularly with the Summer Program Lead to align on instructional goals and student progress.
  • Participate in training sessions and program meetings as scheduled.
  • Ensure that all tutoring sessions are aligned with GACAโ€™s academic and behavioral expectations.
Program Details:
  • Program Duration: Teachers: June 2 - July 17ย 
  • Schedule: Monday - Friday (Times to be determined)
  • Format: Teaching via GACAโ€™s online platform
  • Compensation: $40 per hour
  • Training: Required before program launch
Qualifications:
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Education, Mathematics, English Language Arts, or related field (Masterโ€™s preferred).
  • Valid Georgia Teaching Certificate preferred (Math 4-8, Language Arts 4-8, or P-5 Elementary)
  • Georgia Clearance Certificate
  • Experience teaching or tutoring Kโ€“12 math or ela students in a virtual or in-person setting.
  • Strong knowledge of Georgia Standards of Excellence for Mathematics and/or Language Arts .
  • Proficient in using virtual learning platforms (Zoom, Pearson Connexus, Nearpod, etc.).
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage students in a remote learning environment.
