Job Summary
SUMMER RISING 6th-9th MATH TEACHER- VACANCY NOTICE AND JOB DESCRIPTION
Sheffield City Schools
Reports To: Summer Principal/Assistant Superintendent
Job Goal: To improve student proficiency in critical math standards
Qualifications: Valid Alabama Teacher's Certificate in Secondary Mathematics (Preferred) Knowledge and understanding of the math standards
Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Must be proficient and highly effective in the area of math for grades 6-9 with quantifiable supporting data.
    • Must be proficient and highly effective in AMSTI math.
    • Determines individual and class needs based on interpretation of student data.
    • Establishes objectives and plans learning experiences.
    • Implements activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives.
    • Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
    • Exhibits positive human relations skills.
    • Evaluates the educational program and/or student progress.
    • Communicates with parents/guardians, colleagues, and community groups.
    • Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication.
    • Maintains and submits records and reports.
    • Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policy, and state and federal rules and regulations.
    • Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and leadership.
    • Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

Terms of Employment: Compensation: $250.00/day for 7:30-1:30 schedule.
Beginning: May 30 (Planning/Set Up Day) - June 25 Monday - Thursday
Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
