Job description

Faulkner University is seeking a qualified individual to serve as Faculty Secretary for the departments of computer science, mathematics, and natural and physical sciences. This individual will provide secretarial and administrative support services for these departments in a manner that allows faculty members to devote the majority of their time to academic and research endeavors and build community among students and faculty. Faulkner University is a Christian University affiliated with the churches of Christ.

This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position with additional time off during the summer semester, spring break, and Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays.

Summary of Duties:

  • Provide general secretarial and administrative support to assigned academic department(s) and or programs(s)
  • Schedule and confirm appointments; assist with correspondence
  • Assist in processing contracts, expense reports, purchasing, and check request for departmental invoices and expenditures; track approval, receipt and payment
  • Assist in compiling departmental academic schedules, scheduling classes and classrooms
  • Maintain department files, and electronic spreadsheets/databases
  • Coordinate processes to gather and disseminate information related to retention, graduate tracking and other projects related to assessment, accreditation, and strategic initiatives
  • Assist with formatting, copying and proctoring tests
  • Support departmental organizations and events
  • Assist with faculty hiring processes

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; minimum of High School diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of one year office/clerical experience or other applicable experience preferred
  • Active member of the church of Christ
