HybridLegal Intern

The Center for Disability & Elder Law (CDEL) hostsLegal Interns each academic yearand during summer months.ForFall2026, the Legal Intern willparticipateinwhat is expected to beaprimarilyhybridinternship opportunity,which will includeremote work and in-personwork.CDEL willprovidetraining and supervision for thestudent.Applicantsshouldbe asecond or third yearlawstudent.On occasion, we do consider outstanding first year law students.Opportunitiestoparticipatemay includeparticipation inCDEL community clinics,workshopsandhelp desks.

The Legal Internship is unpaid.However, in addition to working with law schools offering externship credit, there maybefunding options available for CDEL Legal Interns through law schools or outside agencies.CDEL will work with students and their advisors in setting up the internship.

Interns willbe responsible formanagingexpansivecases and aclientcaseloadunder supervision.One of the strengths of the program is the amount and degree of candidate and clientinteractionand interns who are particularlyinterestedin this aspect are encouraged to apply.Internsparticipatein all aspects of client files, including screening, intake, documentreviewand fulldirectrepresentation.Thestudent will gain experience in the following practice areas and develop the stated skills:
