Job description

WORK DAYS: Organizational meetings, planning day - June 8th, prior to the start of the Career Academy dates of June 9th - 11th

WORK HOURS: 7:30 a.m.- 3:30 p.m. which includes a morning and afternoon session.

Student Sessions are 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. & 12:00 - 3:00 p.m.

CAREER CAMP INFORMATION:


The Middle School Career Academy is a summer opportunity offered to current 6-8th grade students organized and sponsored by the Rochester/ZED Perkins Consortium. It is a collaboration between RCTC, RPS, ZED and Pine Island schools and industry partners. The academy will offer students an interactive glimpse into up to two of eight different career pathways.


Pathways include:

  • Agriculture
  • Construction
  • Culinary
  • Health Sciences
  • Information Technology
  • Manufacturing
  • Public Safety & Emergency Services
  • Transportation

JOB SUMMARY:


The Middle School Career Academy is currently looking for a Lead Teacher to help support with the planning leading up to the Academy, and with supervision during the Academy. Duties include but are not limited to: attending planning meetings, organizing and communicating with industry partners, preparing program-wide materials and communication, logistical support during the Academy, and supporting the work of the Perkins Coordinators in the daily operation of the camp.

We believe that all students can learn and that motivating students is an essential part of teaching.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minnesota teaching license required.
  • Previous summer program experience preferred.
  • Regular, on-time attendance is required.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organization skills.
  • Demonstrated Educational Leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and parents.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates in planning prior to start of program.
  • Directs and helps manage behavior and discipline.
  • Coordinates and supervises student use of facilities, bus transportation, and related issues.
  • Three student contact days.
  • Attendance and bus communication.
  • Mandatory planning/meeting time.
  • Serves as parent contact for students in Middle School Camp.
  • Provide safe and positive learning environment.
  • Develop relationships and encourage positive self-efficacy for all students.
